Bell Springs Winery
Bell Springs Winery just opened it's tasting room Saturday, July 24th and it's worth a visit. Nate Pruitt, proprietor, is likely to greet you and begin your tasting journey through 6 offerings. My favorite of the bunch was an uncommon white: Malvasia Bianca. An ancient grape varietal, Malvasia Bianca can be traced back to the 13th century in Greece. Venetian traders in the Middle Ages were responsible for introducing this esteemed wine to Europe, and indeed merchant wine shops in the Veneto were even known as malvasie. Cuttings made their way to the Veneto and Malvasia vines became prized possessions, with wines varying in regional character throughout Italy. This white wine is perfect for the hot days of summer. Intensely perfumed of Peaches and Jasmine it is right at home with grapes and white cheeses......Bottles are reasonably priced at $17.00 and only $13.60 if you join the wine club! My wife and I tried everything in this order: a Pinot Grigio, the Malvasia Bianca, a Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, A Cabernet Franc and ending with a Merlot....The cabernet franc was another worthy mention: makes you want to grill and enjoy this rich and moody red!

Bell Springs Winery is located at 3700 Bell Springs Road in Dripping Springs. They are open on the weekends and if you need to call ahead here is their phone number 830.483.9463. Cheers.
